BENIN CITY, NIGERIA — In a major effort to support tourism and host high-profile visitors expected in the state capital, the Business and Hoteliers Stakeholders Forum (BHSF) Edo State has announced a 60% rate reduction across 700 hotel accommodations for guests attending the coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II, the Oba of Benin. The massive discount is aimed at easing logistics, promoting hospitality, and ensuring seamless hosting of dignitaries and tourists visiting the ancient kingdom for the royal celebrations.

The announcement was made to newsmen in Benin City by the Publicity Secretary of BHSF, Helen Michaels.  Operating under the banner of “Stronger Businesses Through Unity!”, the BHSF emphasizes that local business owners and hospitality operators achieve far more by building a strong network, organizing joint actions, and speaking with one collective voice before state authorities and commercial partners.

Established in 2024 and officially registered in 2025, BHSF serves as a platform dedicated to safeguarding business interests, fostering public visibility, and expanding commercial opportunities across Edo State. The body offers its members unified advocacy against harsh economic policies, collective defense against double taxation and illegal extortion, and direct access to strategic networking, supplier partnerships, and financing initiatives for qualified business owners.

Despite its recent inception, the forum has already compiled a track record of interventions on behalf of its members. Key achievements include initiating legal action involving the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) and the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over electricity tariff hikes, as well as filing 35 petitions with state and national regulatory bodies regarding alleged enforcement actions against local hotels to ensure fair treatment and due process.

By extending this generous accommodation discount for the Oba’s coronation anniversary, BHSF aims to showcase the hospitality sector’s readiness to collaborate on major cultural events while advocating for a better business environment. Prospective members and interested stakeholders can reach the organization at its head office located at Plot 45, Country Home Motel Road, Off Sapele Road, GRA, Benin City, or via phone (+234 703 760 1910, +234 903 737 5378).
