EKPOMA, EDO STATE — September 1, 2026 — The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Chapter, has formally expressed deep grief following the demise of Chief Daniel Osikheme Orbih, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the institution.
In an official condolence letter addressed to the Governing Council through the Vice-Chancellor, the academic union described Chief Orbih’s passing as a devastating loss that leaves a significant vacuum in the leadership and governance structure of the university.
Tribute to Visionary Leadership
The letter, signed jointly by the ASUU-AAU Chapter Chairperson, Dr. Cyril Oziegbe Onogbosele, and Secretary, Dr. William Odion, eulogized the late Pro-Chancellor as a pillar of good governance and a beacon of competence.
”Chief Orbih was more than a principal officer. He was a beacon of competence, a pillar of leadership, and a custodian of good governance,” the union stated. “He believed firmly in teamwork and was passionately committed to repositioning our university to fulfill the noble purpose for which it was established. His vision was clear: a university driven by excellence, integrity, and service.”
ASUU noted that his departure comes at a critical juncture when the institution relied heavily on his wealth of experience, strategic foresight, and fatherly counsel to guide its administrative affairs.
